Nova Sayers is on a mission to build integrity, health and sustainability in our food system – while creating value for brands, suppliers, investors and consumers. She is responsible for business development in the Sustainability Division of NSF International, a global not-for-profit public health and safety organization. In this role, Nova helps organizations use tools like innovative standards, supplier engagement programs, responsible sourcing strategies, product claims and 3rd party certification to create value and earn trust with consumers, investors, and business partners. In her 6+ years with NSF Nova has successfully helped launch several innovative services: new Non GMO, Raised Without Antibiotics, and Plant Based product claims; Responsible Sourcing policy and programs; plus innovative Standards Development projects in globally traded commodities ranging from Produce to Coffee to Honey. Her current focus is building the market and standards to support Regenerative Agriculture including the Regenerative Organic Certification and Soil Carbon Initiative. Nova also engages with industry initiatives in sustainable food systems, such as The Sustainability Consortium, the Sustainable Food Trade Association, a farmer grant fund named Cultivating Change.
Earlier in her career, Nova specialized in international trade development, marketing, and sustainability for industry organizations based in the San Francisco Bay Area, working with the Ports, Economic Development agencies, Chambers of Commerce, Corporate leaders and entrepreneurs. She is a certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, a GRI Sustainability Reporter, and she earned a BA from the University of California at Berkeley in International Political-Economy.
